Pool, Ferne Alberta Smith
Ferne Alberta Pool, 89, died Monday, July 28, 2008, at Newman Regional Health.
The daughter of George G. and Eliza Ethel Scoggin Smith, she was born April 24, 1919, at Hartford. She married Verle E. Pool on March 27, 1937, at Cottonwood Falls. He died May 10, 1990. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, David V. Pool of Emporia; one daughter, Elaine Wilson of The Colony, Texas; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A son, Dan A. Pool; three brothers, Elmer Smith, Arthur Smith and Ellis Smith; two sisters, Ethel Fancher and Lela Brewer; and a grandson died earlier. The private memorial service will be at a later date. Mrs. Pool was cremated.
