Powell, Clyde DeWayne

Clyde Powell, 77, formerly of Matfield Green, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at his home in Hemet, Calif.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m., at the Matfield Green Community Church in Mattfield Green with The Rev. Charles Colaw officiating. Burial with Militaty Honors by a Ft. Riley Honor Guard, will follow in the Matfield Green Cemetery.

The son of Clyde N. and Audrey V. Housley Powell, Clyde DeWayne Powell was born Nov. 20, 1930, at Matfield Green.

He and Coleen Osburn were married Nov. 23, 1952, in Medford, Okla.

He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a Master of Science degree in Psychology. He taught at Saffordville for one year and in several other school districts.He was the Child Welfare and Attendance Coordinator in the Hemet school system until his retirement in 1991.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Randy E. Powell of Hemet, Calif., Kevin D. Powell of Joshua Tree, Calif. and Timothy A. Powell of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Doyle E. “Gene” Powell of Broken Arrow, Okla.; four grand-children; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
