Powers, Margie M King

Margie M. Powers, 95, died Feb. 17, 2003, at the Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cottonwood Falls. The funeral service was Feb. 21, 2003, at the First Baptist Church. Pastor Rick Smith officiated. Interment followed at the Matfield Green Cemetery at Matfield Green.

Margie M. King, the daugh- ter of William and Martha Ann Wells King, was born Feb. 4, 1908, at Collegeville, Okla. She married Jessie Powers on Nov. 29, 1926, at Quinta, Texas. Mr. Powers died in 1978. She was a packer for a cook- ie factory for eight years and worked as a cook for the Marceline School District for 10 years. She retired in 1973. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cottonwood Falls. She was also a member of the Army Mothers and the Rebeccah Lodge.

She is survived by a son, Carl Powers of Emporia; two grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John King and R.D. King; and a half-brother, Joe King.

Memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church may be sent in care of the Brown- Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
