Ramsey, Leona Varelman

Leona Ramsey, 98, of Strong City, died Sunday, June 22. 2003, at the Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Leona Varelman, the daughter of Jessie Nichols and Benhart Varelman, was born Nov. 12, 1904, at Saffordville. She married David H. Ramsey, Sr. on June 17, 1922, at Marion. She was a homemaker..

She is survived by a son, David H. Ramsey Jr. of Strong City; a daughter, Dorothy Arnold of Salina; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Leona was preceded in death by her hus band, David, and two daughters, Laura Baker and Martha Stevenson. The funeral was June 25 in the Croy Funeral Home at Cottonwood Falls Pastor Jim Bartsch of the Flint Hills Community Church officiated. Burial was in Strong Cemetery.

Memorials may be to the Chase County Health and Rehabilition Center or the Flint Hills Community Church Cottonwood Falls.
