Passes At Elmdale
James Ransford, 86. Had Been a Rasident of Chase County Since, 1879
James Ransford, pioneer Chase County resident. passed away near Elmdale, Thursday, June 14, 1951, at the age of 86 years and 11 days. Funeral services were conducted at the Croy Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls Sunday, June 17, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Edridge
Gehee, of the Presbyterian Church in charge.
Music was furnished by Eva Parks and Ruth Mae Littler, accompanied by Mrs. Lee Collingsworth. The pallbearers were John Duke, Charles Duke, Harry Starkey, Charles Jacobs, Frank Roniger and George Roniger. Internment was in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
James William Ransford son of Cameron and Mary Delilia (Featherikile) Ransford was born June 3rd, 1865, at Terra Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.
He was one of the early settlers; coming to Kansas at the age of 5 years with his parents in the covered wagon days of 1870, firs: settling at Florence, in Marion County, Kans. In 1879 they settled on a claim in Chase County, southeast of Elmdale in the Rocky Glenn settlement. Most of his life was spent in and near Cottonwood Falls.
One brother, Joseph and one sister, Martha Ellen Moore proceeded him in death. He is survived by a brother, Roy, of Newton, Kans.
