Ransford, William James

William James Ransford, son of Joe and Elsie Ransford, was born August 19 1911 at Strong City, Chase, Kansas. He passed this life at Florence Colorado, August 8th 1947, at Florence, Colorado at the age of 35 years, 11 months, 20 days.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Taylor, May 29, 1944, at Oakland, California.

To this union three children were born, Dorothy May age 3, William Lee, Age 2, and Marthy Ellen age 9 months, who are left to mourn his going.

Also the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Maybell Matzke, of Parker, Colorado; Mrs. Marty Ellen Spencer of Pierre, South Dakota; Mrs. Maxine Baker of Julesburg, Colorado; Harold Lee Ransford, Grand Junction, Colorado; and Lester B. Ransford of Parker, Colorado.

Also remaining are three half brothers: Paul Jacob of Lehigh, Iowa; John J. Jacobs of Vancouver, Washington, and Roy L Jacob of Newton, Kansas; also two aunts and three uncles and a number of other close realtives and a host of friends.

William spent one year in the service of his country on the Island of Midway. He was on his way home, stopping at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed. Surviving Pearl Harbor he returned home to his family. He was a loving father and husband and will be greatly missed by his own who knew him best. He attended the Christian Church.
