Rauscher, Glen Samuel


Glen Samuel Rauscher, the son of Edward M. and Minnie Johnson Rauscher, was born April 10, 1921, at Haxtun, Colo. He married Elaine Vohs on Oct. 12, 1947, at her par- ents home near Edson. She died May 10, 2000. He worked as a meat cutter for Safeway After their marriage, he and Elaine farmed near Edson until her ill health forced their retirement in 1997.

He served in the United States Navy, 1st Beach Battalion, as a Radio Operator during WW II. He was a mem- ber and a Deacon of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Goodland, a member of the Elks and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Sherman County, served on the school board for the Edson Unified School District, was Treasurer of the Washington township in Sherman, County, and volunteered with the Rural Fire Department.

He is survived by a son, William "Bill" A. Rauscher of Beaverton, Ore.; three daughters, Susan "Sue" Alexander of Strong City, Mary Lea McGinley of Salina and Mildred "Millie" Kitchen of Aurora, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and two great grand daughters. The family will greet friends at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Friends may call Friday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Memorial contributions to the World War II Veterans Memorial or to Emmanuel Lutheran Church may be sent in the care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
