Chase County Obituaries

Rippert, William B William B. Rippert, 73, of Junction City, died Dec. 17,
2002, at Wakefield
Rehabilitation Center, in
Wakefield. The funeral was Dec. 19,
2002, at the Main Post Chapel,
in Junction City. Bishop Jack
Methvin conducted the service.
Johnson Funeral Chapel was
in charge. Burial was in Fort Riley
Cemetery, Fort Riley, with full
military honors.
William B. Rippert, the son
of John Joseph and Margaret
Eleanor Mawe Rippert, was
born June 5, 1929, at Hartford. He graduated from
Mountain Grove High School,
Missouri in 1946. After 10
years of commission with the
army, William graduated from
OCS in 1956.
He married Mabel Delia
Rawlings, Sept. 15, 1949, at
Aberdeen, Md., she preceded
him in death Aug. 22, 1985. He served in the United
States Army for 26 1/2 years.
He retired in 1972 as a Lt.
Colonel and was a Logistics
Military Officer. He was a
Vietnam Veteran and received
the Meritous Service Medal.
He was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints. He held the
offices of Elder and Leader of
the High Priest Group, and
was a member of the military
army assistance advisory
group.
He is survived by three
sons, Steven W. Rippert of
Abilene, Kenneth M. Rippert
of Junction City and William
R. Rippert of Albuquerque,
NM; one daughter, Mary E.
Bessey of Derby; one sister,
Mary A. Talkington of
Cottonwood Falls; and 10
grandchildren. He was preced
ed in death by his parents;
wife; three brothers, Larry
Rippert, Francis Rippert and
John J. Rippert Jr.; two sisters,
Eleanor Baumgartner and
Agnes Frisbee.
