Rockhill, Lucille

Lucille Rockhill, 94, of Lyon County, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at a Peoria, Ill. hospital.

Lucille, the daughter of George W. and Rosa L. Seeley Martin, was born Sept. 17, 1911. She married Ray Rockhill on Feb. 5,1929, in Cottonwood Falls. He died Oct. 31, 1993, in Eureka, Ill.

During World War II, Mrs. Rockhill worked for Caterpillar. She later began a home hairstyling business which she ran for over 40 years, retiring in 1996.

She is survived by one son, Donald Ray Rockhill Sr. of Perkin, Ill.; one daughter, Diane Kay Freeburg, of Peoria, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great¬grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, one grandson and one great-grandson. Services were Friday, Jan. 6, at the Wilton Mortuary, Peoria, Ill. Burial was in Swan Lake Memory Garden, Peoria, Ill. Memorial may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or the National Kidney Foundation, in care of the funeral home, 2101 N. Knoxville Ave., Peoria, IL 61603.
