Rose, John H Died From Injuries. Received.
J. H. Rose, the section foreman who was fatally injured near Burdick last Thursday evening, died at the depot in Strong City while waiting to be taken to the Santa Fe hospital at Topeka..
Mr. Rose in company with several laborers were returning to Burdick late Thursday evening from doing some work along the track, and were
running pretty fast.
Just this side of Burdick a hog attempted to cross the track in front of them and the hand car was going with such force that when it strurk--the hog the men were
thrown in every direction.
Mr. Rose
was the only man who was hurt, and his injuries were such that he was at once brought to Strong City on the local that: evening. The authorities had given Agent Krebbs permission to stop No. 4 and take the injured man to
Topeka. The trip was unnecessary as death claimed the victim just before the train pulled into the station. Mr. Rose was badly bruised about the head and chest and was injured internally.
The body was prepared for burial and was taken to Burdick Saturday where funeral services were held. Mr. Rose was about forty years old and leaves a wife and several children, the wife being critically ill at the time of the accident.
The deceased had been in the employee of the Santa Fe for a number of years and the many friends of the family were shocked to hear of the sudden and fatal accident.

Killed by a Hand Car
John H Rose, section foreman, at Burdick, died here last Thursday night as a result of injuries received in an accident near Burdick.
Mr. Rose and his men were coming down a hill on the hand car when a hog got on the track a short distance ahead of them and they were unable to stop. The car was derailed
and Mr. Rose had three ribs broken and sustained internal injuries. He was brought this far on his way to the Topeka hospital, but while waitimg for a train lapsed in unconsciousness from which he never recovered.
He was about 40 years old and leaves a family. The remains were sent to Burdick and the funeral was held at Lost Springs.
