Roth, Ruth F Mayes Wyatt

Ruth F Mayes Roth, 84, of Emporia, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at her home

Ruth F. Wyatt, the daughter of William Arthur and Gertrude Layport Wyatt, was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Chase County. The family moved to Emporia in 1934.

She married Maurice C. Mayes on March 14, 1951, in Emporia. He died March 1, 1963. She married Clayton Roth in 1965. They lived in Michigan for 20 years. He died in 1985 and she returned to Emporia in 1986.

Mrs. Roth was a secretary for Dr. J.M. Catlett and Dr. Don Coldsmith. Earlier she was cashier and bookkeeper for 17 years at the Lyric Theater.

Mrs. Roth was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Lowry- Funston Post 1980 and a former member of the Business Girls Guild.

Her survivors include a stepson, Clayton Roth of Michigan, and a brother, George Wyatt of Emporia. A sister, Blanche Bland, and a brother, William L. Wyatt, died earlier.

The funeral was Nov. 26 in the Roberts-Blue- Barnett Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Mic McGuire of the Grace United Methodist Church conducted the service. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hand in Hand Hospice, sent to the funeral home, R O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
