Schroeder, Elmer K Dr.

Dr. E.K. Schroeder, 85, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in Wichita.

His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at the Eastmoor United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Marion Cemetery.

Dr. Elmer K. Schroeder, 85, died Oct. 13, 2003, at Wichita.

Dr. Elmer K. Schroeder, the son of John and Susie Klassen Schroeder, was born May 19, 1918, on a farm in Lehigh. He was one of eight children. He graduated from High School in Hillsboro and attended Tabor College. While in college he worked for REA.

In 1940 he attend the College of Dentistry at the University of Missouri where he graduated in 1944. He married Ruby Richert during his senior year of college. After serving in the Army as a dentist in WWII, he and Ruby settled in Marion in 1946, to begin his dental practice. He retired from his dental practice in 1987.

Dr. Schroeder served for ten years on the Marion School Board of Education, was a member of the Marion Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club, was on the St. Luke Hospital Board's physician procurement committee,, the Marion County Museum Board, the Marion County Historical Society, the Board of Prairie View, the Mental Health Center Board and the Alliance for the Mentally Ill.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Dennis and Edsel, all of Marion; and a sister, Rachel Gregory of Wichita. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

The funeral service was Oct. 16, 2003, at the Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion. Officiating were Rev. John Goering, Rev. Rick Branson and Rev. Robert; Priest. Interment was in Marion Cemetery, Marion. Memorials are suggest- ed to the Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
