Selves, William H

William H. Selves, 86, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at his home in Cottonwood Falls. Mr. Selves was a farmer and rancher. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

The son of William B. and Emily Becker Selves, he was born Oct. 28, 1918, in rural Cottonwood Falls. He married Dorothy Rider on May 17, 1947, in Wichita. She died Aug. 19, 2000.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of Zeredatha Lodge 80 in Cottonwood Falls.

He is survived by three daughters, Linda Byrd of Garden City, Cindy Barrett of Cimarron and Nancy Gordon of Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Jim Selves of Cottonwood Falls, Jack Selves of Kimball, Neb. and Dean Selves of Anaheim, Calif.; four sisters, Elaine Judd of Bazaar, Kate Burton of Missoula, Mont., Anna Lucy Hailey of Corning, Calif. and Virginia Bush of Colton, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The service was Friday, June 3, in Prairie Grove Cemetery at Cottonwood Falls. Chaplain Phil Ingle conducted the service. Services were also conducted by the Fort Riley Color Guard and Zeredatha Lodge 80. Mr. Selves has been cremated.
