Silkett, V L

FORMER RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. Frank Deering, of this city, received word of the death of her brother-in-law, V. L. Silkett, of Red Oaka, Iowa.

The Silkett family formerly lived in the southwest part of this county will be remembered by many of earlier residents of the Homestead and Wonsevu vicinities. The family left this county about 30 years ago, first moving to Nebraska, then to Iowa.

Mr. Silkett was 75 years old. He as born January 13, 1858, in Monroe county, Iowa. He was married December 12, to Frances A. Buffon, who survives. He also leaves five children, Herbert, of Norfolk, Nebraska, Mrs. Frances Mary Reed, of Oakland, California, Howard, of Norfolk, Wayne, of Wisner, Nebraska, and Daniel, of Norfolk.

The Silkett family lived here about ten years. The farm they owned is now a part of the holdings of Arnold Sterns in the southwest part of this county. George W. Buffon, of Lyon county, a brother-in-law of Mr. Silkett, and Miss Erma Buffon, clerk of the district court, is a niece.
