Skirvin, Helen M Helen M. Skirvin, 90. died Dec. 15, 2001, at Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cottonwood Falls. Funeral services were held Dec. 18 at the First Baptist Church, Cottonwood Falls. Pastor Rick Smith officiated. Burial was in Matfield Green Cemetery.
Helen Marie Scearce, the daughter of William Leonard and Emma Grace Unger Scearce, was born Nov 26, 1911, at Bado, Mo.
She and Earl D Skirvin were married Oct. 28, 1929, at West Plains, Mo. He preceded her in death. They lived at Matfield Green at the Cities Service Gas Station. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by four grandchildren. Linda Leonard of Commerce City, Colo., Larry Brown of Montrose, Colo., Lanny Brown of Wheatridge, Colo., and Leanna Thorne of Edgewater, Colo.; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Doris Helen Brown; one sister, Edna Scearce and three brothers, Esten; John and Ed Scearce. Memorials to the First Baptist Church may be sent to care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, Cottonwood Falls.
