Smith, Elaine Alvina Stanbrough
Elaine Alvina Smith, 91, died June 5, 2008, at Quail Ridge Living Center in West Siloam Springs, Ark.
The daughter of Alvin and Ella Springer Stanbrough, she was born Oct. 24, 1916, at Cottonwood Falls. She married Charles Smith, Dec. 10, 1938, at Council Grove.
She worked as a beautician and homemaker and worked alongside Charles on the family farm at Cottonwood Falls. In 1979 they moved
to Colcord, Okla., and then to the Siloam Springs, Ark., area in 2002.
She completed high school at Emporia and went on to complete Campbell Beauty School at Emporia. She was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church in Siloam Springs, Ark.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Larry Smith of Siloam Springs, Ark; seven grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Robert Harold Smith and Ray Allen Smith.
Funeral services were held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel, Siloam Springs, Ark. on June 9 with the Rev. Dan Crenshaw officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
