Stout, Mary Spurlock

Mary Stout, 99, died Thursday, July 7, 2005, at the Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cottonwood Falls.

Mary, the daughter of James and Mary Decker Spurlock, was born July 3, 1906, in Oskaloosa. She married Keith Stout on Oct. 20, 1935, in Oskaloosa. He died Oct. 9, 1985.

Mrs. Stout was an elementary school teacher who taught English and Latin in Cottonwood Falls, Elmdale, Strong City, Perry-Scranton and Hope. She had a Lifetime Teaching Certificate. She was a member of the Strong City United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Jerrold E. Stout of Cottonwood Falls, Donald E. Stout of Overland Park and David K. Stout of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, Kathleen Fullerton of Wichita, Margaret Stout of Springfield, Mo. and Carol Redd of Farmington, N.M.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, July 9, 2005, in the Brown-BennettAlexander Funeral Home Chapel at Cottonwood Falls. The Rev. John Hastings of the Strong City United Methodist Church conducted the service. Entombment was in Prairie Grove Cemetery at Cottonwood Falls.
