Talkington, Albert Omer

A. O. TALKINGTON DIES FRIDAY

Well-Known Elmdale Farmer Had Lived in Chase County since 1882.

Albert O. Talkington died at his home near Elmdale, Friday, March 13, 1942 after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Clements, Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. E. M. Scott had charge of the services. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stephenson, Miss Nellie Stephenson and Ronald Bowers, accompanied by Mrs. S. J. Shelton. The pallbearers were Charles Crawford, J. T. Graham, Sherman Dawson, S. J. Shelton, Arch Anderson and Tom Scobee. Interment was in the Clements cemetery.

Albert Omer Talkington was born near Mannington, West Virginia, February 26, 1860, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Talkington. He died March 13, 1942 at the age of 82 years and 8 days. He came to Chase County on February 8, 1882 and was united in marriage to Anna Payne on February 13, 1884. They were the parents of 11 children, five of whom preceded him in death.

Mr. Talkington is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Talkington, four sons, Flores of Cottonwood Falls, Leslie of Elmdale; Kenneth of Strong City; Noel of Clements: two daughters, Viola Bafford of El Norte, Calif.; and Myrtle Stevens of Fillmore, Calif. Also 30 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Mr. Talkington was a man held in high esteem by his neighbors and friends and his passing will bring regret to many.
