Talkington, Bud

Bud Talkington, 78, died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at his home in Hamilton.

Mr. Talkington, a rancher, moved from Elmdale to northern Greenwood County in 1967. He was an Army veteran of World War II. The son of Florus and Jessie Harlan Talkington, he was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Clements.

He married Jo Soule on Nov. 17, 1951, in Emporia. She survives.

Mr. Talkington is also survived by four sons, Randy Talkington of Hamilton, Tracy Talkington of Admire, John Talkington of Madison and Dale Talkington of Savonburg; two daughters, Pam Schankie of Madison and Cindy Cox of Longview, Texas; one brother, Gary Talkington of El Dorado; six sisters, Margaret Holloman of El Dorado, Dora Faunce and Flora Casper, both of Rosalia, Ethel Scheve of Belle Plaine, Virgie Sade of Topeka and Enda Dwire of Missouri; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister died earlier.

The Wilson Funeral Home of Madison will announce services.
