Mrs Walter Teat Rites in Strong City

Former Strong Citian Died Satruday in Topeka; Buried in St Anthony’s Cemetery

Mrs Walter Teat, Topeka, a former Strong City resident died Saturday in St Francis hospital, Topeka. Funeral Serviceswere held at9”30 am Monday in St Anthony’s Catholic Church, Strong City. The Rev. Joseph V Tockeroffered Requiem High Mass and music was by the Church choir. Servers were Stephen Gonzales and Stephen Brooks. Pallbearers were William Brown, Paul Stubenhofer, Karl Stubenhofer, John Kass, Carroll Holmberg and Harold Wiebrecht. Burial was in St Anthony’s Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Brown Funeral Home where recitation of the rosary was held at 8 pm Sunday.

Josephine Maloney Teat was born April 10, 1893 at Nickerson, the daughter of the late Joseph J and Elizabeth Failey Maloney. She attended the schools of Strong City and was employed by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Cottonwood Falls before her marriage to Walter Teat at Strong City in 1918. They moved to Topeka in 1918 and that had since been their home. Mr Teat died February 10, 1961.

Surviving her are two brothers, Edward Maloney, Emporia, and Joseph F Maloney, Strong City; four sisters, Miss Frances Maloney, Strong City; Mrs George Nesladek, Topeka; Mrs Vern L Stocker, Cherokee, and Mrs. T J Davis, Newton; Three nieces and three nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Miss Laura Maloney and Mrs Mae Kraft. Mrs. Teat was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella in Topeka.
