Teat, Walter J

Held Services here for Former Resident

Funeral services for Walter J Teat, Topeka, formerly of Cottonwood Falls, who died Friday evening at his home, were held Monday morning, Feb. 13, at the Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Father Joseph Tockert of St Anthony’s Catholic Church officiating and pallbearers were William E Brown, Paul Stubenhofer, Charles D Rettiger, Clint Baldwin, Carroll Holmberg, and Harold Wiebrecht. Burial was in St. Anthony’s cemetery.

Walter J. Teat was born April 10, 1885 at Lyons Kans., the son of Mr and Mrs Robert Teat, and died February 10, 1961. As a youth he attended the Chase County schools, and later was manager of the Telephone Company in Cottonwood Falls. In 1916 he moved to Topeka where he had lived since that time. He married Josephine Maloney in 1912, in Strong City. Mr. Teat was a watchmaker for the Santa Fe Railway Company until his retirement six years ago.

Surviving him are his wife, of the home; one brother, W B Teat, Tulsa, Okla., and one nephew. He was preceded in death by one sister, Florence Montgomery. He was a member of the Topeka Masonic Lodge No. 17 A F & A M. Attending the rites from out of town were Mrs. Walter J Teat, Mr and Mrs George Nesladek, Topeka; Mr and Mrs Joe Dunn and Marylee, Pittsburg; Mrs. V L Stocker, McCune; Mrs. T J Davis and Marylee Davis, Newton; E S Maloney Emporia.
