Thompson, Warren G

Warren G. Thompson, 79, Cottonwood Falls, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the Morris County Hospital, Council Grove.

He was born at Elmdale on Sept. 22, 1924, the son of Willis and Julia Guyton Thompson. He married Wilma Rose Lee on July 30, 1948. She died Sept. 10, 1951. He married Gladys Ilene Miller at Cottonwood Falls on Feb. 2, 1953. She survives.

Mr. Thompson was a member of the Cottonwood Falls United Methodist Church, Cottonwood Falls. He was a farmer and had worked for the Chase County Highway Department until retiring in 1986.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Lyon, Emporia and Nancy Brasher, Galva; two sons, Mark Thompson, McPherson and Kevin Thompson, Cottonwood Falls; a brother, Neil Thompson, Littleton, Colo.; a sister, Sharon Bond, Oak Grove, Mo.; and eight grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was pre-ceded in death by two sons, George in 1986 and David in 1998, as well as a grand-son, Kirk Lyon.

Services were held at the United Methodist Church, Cottonwood Falls on March 22, 2004. The service was conducted by Pastor Melody Kimbrel. Interment was in Prairie Grove Cemetery, Cottonwood Falls. Memorials to the church or for Parkinson's Disease Research may be sent to the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, KS, which was in charge of arrangements.
