Tucker, Lawrence James

Lawrence James Tucker Sr., 65, of Emporia died June 20, 2005, at mile post #319 US Hwy 50, Strong City.

Lawrence, the son of Ray C. and Beulah Jack Tucker, was born July 19, 1939, at Wichita. He married Erma Kahle March 3, 1961, at Miami, Okla. He was a lifetime farmer and worked for Tyson Foods for 28 years, retiring in April 1999. He attended the United Pentecostal Church in Emporia.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son, Lawrence James "Jamie" Tucker Jr. of Emporia; a daughter, Lisa Myers of Emporia; three brothers, Gene Tucker of El Dorado, Paul Edward Tucker of Wichita and Robert Tucker of Benton; four sisters, Elaine Tucker of Oklahoma City, Okla., Vicki Salisbury of Edmond, Okla., Esther Tucker of Cottonwood Falls and Ruth Bertino of Laguna Hills, Calif.; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service was Saturday, June 25, 2005, in the Patio Garden at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia. Rev. J.D. Harvel of the United Pentecostal Church and Rev. Leonard Wagner of the Church of Christ of Prophecy both of Emporia officiated. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home was in charge of the arrange- ments.
