Umholtz, Brenda Jarvis

Bradley Umholtz, 48, and Brenda Umholtz, 43, of DeSoto, died Thursday, June 24, 2003, in a truck accident on a bridge on Wyandotte Road in DeSoto.

Mr. and Mrs. Umholtz were employed by Gainey Transportation Services. He had also worked as a mechanic for Hunt Midwest Rock Quarry in DeSoto, and as a welder for Santa Fe Railroad and Sauder Manufacturing in Emporia. Her employment included driving for Hunt Midwest and working as a hypnotherapist.

Bradley Umholtz, the son of Willard and Evelyn Umholtz, was born April 1, 1955, in Newton.

Brenda Jarvis, the daughter of Vernon C. and Janice A. Merklin-Jarvis, was born December 29, 1957, in St. Francis.

They married on May 8, 1976. They are survived by a daughter, Sara Umholtz, of Clearview City; and three grandchildren.

Bradley Umholtz is survived by his father and stepmother, Willard and Sharon (Stedry) Umholtz of Cottonwood Falls; a sister, Jacqueline Umholtz of Emporia; and a brother, Randy Umholtz of Lebo. His mother died earlier.

Brenda Umholtz is survived by her mother Lawrence; two sisters Kathleen Lehmann Smith Center and Carla Enacott of Lawrence; and a brother, Kent Jarvis Ellinwood.

Her father and two brothers, Scott Allan Jarvis and Charles Ray Jarvis died earlier. The funeral was hell June 28 at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel in DeSoto. Memorial contributions can be sent to the funeral home, PO Box 101 DeSoto,KS 66018.
