Underwood, Homer
Homer Underwood, 86, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008.
Homer, the son of George P. and Carrie J. Pracht Underwood, was born June 24, 1921, at Matfield Green.
He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He worked on B-52’s at Boeing for over 30 years.
He is survived by one son, Dennis Underwood, Garden Plain; a daughter, Lana Schlegel, Rose Hill; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and four Sisters.
A memorial service was held on Friday, April 25, at First Presbyterian Church, Derby.
Memorials have been established with the Kansas Humane Society, 4218 Southeast Blvd., Wichita, KS 67210 and First Presbyterian Church, 324 N. Baltimore, Derby, KS 67037.
