Ward, Keturah Alice Foxworthy

Funeral Services for Mrs. George Ward. Another old settler is gone with the passing of Mrs. George Ward, of this city, at her home last Thursday. Mrs Ward went to bed at her usual time, but about ten thirty called her sister, Mrs. Mary Hopkins, who lived with her saying she could not get her breath. The doctor was called and tho he arrived immediately he was unable to save her. She passed away sitting in the chair in which she had rested for years.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, November 28, 1943, at the McKenzie Funeral Home, with Rev. J O Borton in charge. The pall bearers were William F. Fillmore, William Olds, Raymond Barrett, D M Smith and C H Garrison. Interment was in Prairie Grove cemetery.

Ms. Keturah Alice Ward, nee Foxworthy, was born in Indiana on the thirteenth day of March, 1861, and died at her home in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, Thursday, November 25, 1943, at the ripe old age of 82 years, 8 months and days.

On the 27th day of June, she was united in the bonds of Holy Matrimony to Mr. George Ward at Florence, Kansas. Mr. Ward preceded her in death in 1927. Both Mr and Mrs. Ward were earnest Christians and before coming to Cottonwood Falls were members of the United Brethern Church in or near Bazaar, Kansas. They moved to Cottonwood Falls and united with the Methodist Church here during the Pastorate of Olive C. Bronston, in 1910. She was a faithful member of the Church Militant, until called to join the Church Triumphant, which is without fault before the Throne of God.

She is survived by the following sisters and brothers. D W Foxworthy of Strong City; Mrs Mary Hopkins of the home; Mrs. Arista Brown, Santa Rosa, California;Frank Foxworthy of Newkirk, Oklahoma;and Orpha Hopkins of Oklahoma City, Okla. A sister, Elizabeth Yenzer and a brother Homer Foxworthy passed away some time ago.
