Watson, Permelia Ann Minor

CONCERNING MRS. ANN WATSON

Permelia Ann Minor was born in Vigo county, Indiana, December 22nd, 1846. Departed this life November 3rd, 1919, age 73 years, 10 months and 11 days.

She was united in marriage to Wm. W. Watson January 29th, 1863.

To this union were born seven children all of whom survive: Mary E. Holmes of San Bernardino, Calif.; Wm. C. Watson of Cedar Point, Kan.; James M. Watson of Cottonwood Falls, Kan.; Burton M. Watson of Paris, Texas; Mrs. S. J. Willey of Elmdale, Kan.; Mrs. B. M. Fox of Severy, Kan.; Mrs, M. H. Ballew of Hymer, Kansas.

Besides these children she leaves to mourn her departure thirty-three grandchildren and a host of friends. In early life, she united with the Baptist church and in later years joined with the Presbyterian church of Clements.

In the fall of 1866, she with her husband moved to Chase county, Kansas, where she has since made her home. As she came to Kansas in the pioneer days, when physicians were scarce and nurses were unknown she did her share of caring for the sick and the many other things that needed to be done for the upbuilding of a new country.

Just sixteen years ago on the same day of the month her husband departed this life. She lived a long life devoted to her family and friends. Always sacrificing her wishes for the pleasure and comfort of those around her.

Her last illness extended over eight months. And those who were with her during this time of intense suffering can testify to her patience and christian faith. And we who are left behind can only hope to live such lives that we may meet her in the home beyond.
