Weeks, Marjorie Elizabeth Walker
Marjorie Elizabeth Walker Weeks, 93, of Council Grove, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at the Council Grove Healthcare Center.
She was born March 29, 1914, at Halstead, the daughter of Harvey Huffman and Minnie Ayers Huffman.
She married Ralph Walker in 1938 and helped him refurbish and repair furniture. He died in 1980. She married Lloyd Weeks in 1985, who died in 1995.
Marjorie had lived in Council Grove since 1947. She attended Berean Baptist Church. She worked in Council Grove and Emporia in the restaurant business, and also worked at the Council Grove nursing home.
She is survived by a daughter, Lea Page Walker of Council Grove; two step-sons, Clifford Weeks, McLouth and Lloyd Dean Weeks, Iola; six step-grand-daughters; one grandson; and several great-grand-children. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Zurbuchen, Edith Hefling and Maxine Bohrer.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Berean Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Kemp officiating. Interment followed at the Homestead Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Berean Baptist Church, and sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Council Grove Chapel, 137 North Union St., Council Grove, KS 66846.
