Henry Westerhaus, father of George Westerhaus of Strong City died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jas Timmons, in Lawton, Oklahoma about eight o'clock Tuesday evening, July 11th.

Mr. Westerhaus was in his eighty-ninth year and was one of the oldest residents of the Burns vicinity where the Weaterhaus family had lived for more than fifty years.

The body was brought to Burns Friday evening and the funeral was held from the Burns Catholic Church at 9:00 o'clock Saturday morning. Interment was made in the Burns cemetery.

Mr. Westerhaus was born in Germany. He emigrated to this country when a lad of about twelve years. After growing to manhood, he was married in Cincinnati, Ohio to Miss Caroline Olberding. Later the family moved to Kansas and located at Burns. There Mr. Westerhaus worked many years for the Santa Fe until his age made it necessary to retire. He continued to make Burns his home after the death of his wifeand because of his long residence there he was widely known.

Mr. and Mrs. Westerhaus are the parents of a large family of fine children all of whom are now grown to manhood and womanhood and the most of whom live in this vicinity. The eight children living are Mrs. Jas Timmons, of Lawton, Oklahoma; Mrs. Frank Bucht, Leo Westerhaus and Mrs. William Walters, of Burns, Henry. Westerhaus, of Hutchinson; Frank Westerhaus, of Rose Hill; Joe Westerhaus, of Florence and George Westerhaus, of Strong City.
