Whitlock, Carl
Carl C. Whitlock, second oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Whitlock, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. J. F. Wilhoit, in this city at 8:20 last Tuesday evening, following an illness which had covered many weeks. The funeral was held in the Methodist church of this city at 10:00 a. m. Thursday morning, Rev. J. E. Bryan, preaching the sermon. Interment was then made in Prairie Grove cemetery, west of the city.
Carl was born at Clements, this county, on April 2nd, 1885 and moved to this city shortly afterwards. Practically all of his life has been spent in this county, the past four or five years being on the Henry Williams farm near Cedar Point where he had worked.
In April, 1908, he was united in marriage to Miss Mina Shumate, at Stroud, Oklahoma. To this union four children were born who are Lalia and Lillie, the twins, Mildred and Minnie.
Besides these children and his wife, the deceased leaves a father and mother and three brothers and four sisters who are, Walter, Glen and Charles Whitlock, Mrs. Homer Crouthers, Mrs. J. F. Wilhoit and Mrs. John Slead, all of this city; Mrs. C. A. Critser of Soda Springs, Idaho; Mrs. C. F. Parks of Cedar Point. All of these were present at the funeral with the exception of Mrs. Critser of Idaho.
Carl’s illness dates from last September when he was compelled to go to the hospital where he underwent an operation for appendicitis. He seemingly recovered but a little later suffered a severe case of pneumonia and after this a relapse. His last illness had dated from about the first of the year.
He was brought to the home of his sister in this city several weeks ago and his condition had been gradually becoming more critical until death came last Tuesday evening, Carl was well known in this city and in the Cedar Point neighborhood, where the last few years of his life had been spent. He was a young man of good habits and was a kind gather and husband. His death will be mourned by, the many relatives and friends he leaves. To the bereaved ones the community join in extending their heart-felt sympathy.
