Whitlock, Charles Ambrose

C. A. Whitlock, former well known resident of this city, died at his home in Eldorado at midnight Sunday, September 25.

About a week ago Mr. Whitlock was injured in a fall which broke his hip. The shock was too great for him and he had gradually grown, weaker since the injury.

The remains were brought to this city Tuesday and the funeral services held from the Methodist church at 2:30 o’clock with the Rev. J. L. Mitchell preaching the funeral sermon. Interment was in Prairie Grove cemetery west of this city.

Mr. Whitlock was in his 79th year. The Whitlock family left this city about 15 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Parks and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Parks, of this city, went to Eldorado Sunday where they visited relatives and saw Mr. Whitlock. Howard Parks and Orville Parks are grandsons of Mr. Whitlock.

The following obituary was read at Mr. Whitlock’s funeral Tuesday afternoon:

Charles Ambrose Whitlock, a resident of Eldorado, for the past five years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. E. Dills, 123 South Race Street, at 8:20 Sunday evening, September 25th. He was 79 years old and had been in failing health for the past three years. About 10 days ago Mr. Whitlock suffered a broken hip in a fall and this was one of the contributing causes of his death.

He came to Eldorado from Cottonwood Falls, where he had lived for 35 years.

He was born March 23, 1853 in Terre Haute, Ind.

He was married December 25, 1875. His wife died in 1918. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving him are his three daughters, Mrs. C. F. Parks, of Cedar Point, Mrs. H. B. Crothers and Mrs. R. A. Dills, of Eldorado, three sons, Walter and Charles, of Eldorado, and Glen, of California. Three other children have passed on before him.

The funeral services were in the Methodist church at Cottonwood Falls at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, September 27, and the body was laid to rest in Prairie Grove cemetery. Reverend Condit, the pastor of the Christian church of Eldorado, assisted the Methodist pastor, J. L. Mitchell, in the funeral services.

Charles A. Whitlock, a former resident of this county, died Sunday at the home of his daughter in Eldorado. He had been in failing health three years and about two weeks ago suffered a broken hip in a fall which led to his death. He was the grandfather of Howard Parks of Cottonwood Falls. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Cottonwood Falls Meth¬odist church and interment was in Prairie Grove cemetery.

Mr. Whitlock was born March 23, 1853, in Terre Haute, Ind., and was married December 25, 1875. Mrs. Whitlock died in 1918. The Whitlock family lived in Cottonwood Falls until about 35 years ago when they moved to Eldorado. Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. C. F. Parks of Cedar Point, Mrs. H. B. Crothers and Mrs. H. A. Dills of Eldorado, and three sons, Walter and Charles of Eldorado and Glen of California.
