Wiersma, Karen L Hoffmann

Karen L. Wiersma, 60, of Paola, formerly of Osawatomie, died April 29, 2003, at her home. Funeral services were held at Paola United Methodist Church on May 2, 2003. Burial was at the Paola Cemetery in Paola.

Karen L. Hoffmann was born on Nov. 9, 1942, in Wauwatosa, Wis. to Alvin and Lilah Berhrend Hoffmann. She attended and graduated from high school in Wauwatosa. She later attended North Central College in Naperville, Ill.. and also Neosho County Community College in Chanute, graduating with an Associates Degree in Applied Science.

She married Lee Wiersma on Aug. 1, 1964, in Milwaukee, Wis. After she and her husband moved to Kansas, they adopted a son, Michael and daughter, Lori. She was a faithful pastor's spouse for thirty-eight years serving United Methodist Churches in eastern Kansas.

She is survived by her husband of the home; daughter, Lori A. Wiersma, Paola; son, Michael L. Wiersma, Springfield, Mass.; brother Allan Hoffmann, McAllen, Texas mother, Lilah Hoffmann, McAllen, Texas; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father. Memorials may be given in hers name to the Paola United Methodist Church.
