Williams, Elizabeth A Embree
Death of Mrs. C C Williams
Mrs. Elizab eth A Williams, 78 years of age and a resident of Chase County for nearly 35 years, died at the home of her son, Henry Williams, of Cedar Point, Tuesday, Feb. 6th, following a brief illness which had entended over a period of only six days.
Mrs. Williams was born in Lawrence county, Indiana, Jan 13th 1839. She was married to C. C. Williams, Nov 20th 1861, and came to Chase county in the year 1883 where her husband died two years later. She is survived by four children who are Henry and Frank Williams, and Mrs. F E Dwelle, of Cedar Point, this county and Mrs. Z A Emerson of Topeka, Kansas.
The funeral services were held at the Williams home near Cedar Point, Brother Bess, of the Christian church of Florence, conducting the services. The remains were then taken to the Christian Church in Florence where Rev. O L Cook, pastor of the First Christian church of Topeka, preached the sermon and where the Florence choir furnished the music. The remains were then tenderly laid to rest in the Florence cemetery beside the grave of the deceased's husband and daughter Alice. The paul-bearers at this service were George R. Williams, June R. Williams, D w Wheeler and Paul Williams. Those who were paul bearers at the short service which had first been held at the Williams home were C A Sayre, T E Sayre, J W Sayre, W J Sayre, Oscar Duehn and L W Byram.
Mrs. Williams whose maiden name was Elizabeth Embree was converted and became a member of the Christian church while still a young girl. She had continued thru out her life a faithful member and a woman of the truest christian character. Hewr life was devoted to her family and her friends and to these her tender love and solicitude knew no bounds. Altho six children were born to her and her husband, het two preceeded them to the land where life is eternal. Her husband who died in the year 1885 left her a widow and since that time she had made her home with her children.
For many years she had been in poor health but she bore her infirmity patiently and her cheerful nature made her one of the brighest and most optomistic members of the family. Truly, she was a kind and loving mother and wife whose death will be heavily felt by the sorrowing children and friends she leaves behind.
There is no death what seems so is transition
This life of Mortal Breath
Is but a suburb of the Life Elysian
Whose portal we call Death.
