Williams, Jerry L.

Jerry L. Williams, 52, rural Emporia, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 as a result of injuries he received in an auto accident southwest of Emporia.

Jerry L. Williams, the son of David L. and Marie Studer Williams, was born at Emporia on June 12, 1954. He graduated from Emporia High School and the Flint Hills Technical College in Emporia. He married Glenda Danford at Cottonwood Falls on May 15, 1982, she survives.

He was a cowboy and stockman, working for the Flint Hills Feed Yards, northeast of Emporia. He was a member and Past Master of Emporia Masonic Lodge #12, A.F. & A.M.

He is also survived by his mother; two daughters, Lisa Williams, Manhattan, Kan. and Ann Williams of the home; four brothers, Jay Williams and Steve Williams, Olpe, Stan Williams, Winona, Minn. and Scott Williams, Newton; and one sister, Diana Havenstein, Manhattan, Kan. He was preceded in death by his father.

Services were held at the First Congregational Church, Emporia on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, conducted by Pastor Chad Poland of the church and Pastor Bev Meadows, Saffordville United Methodist Church, Saffordville. Masonic services were conducted by Emporia Masonic Lodge #12 A.F. & A.M. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery south of Emporia.

A memorial has been established for his daughters education and may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
