Wilson, Dorothy N Snelling

Dorothy N. Snelling Wilson, 89, Potwin, formerly of Florence, died Thursday, March 9, 2006, at the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.

Dorothy, the daughter of Charles and Emma Silver Sidener, was born Jan. 19, 1917, on the family homestead in Chase County. She grew up in the Wonsevu area, attending schools there and in Burns, where she graduated in 1935.

On Jan. 18, 1936, she married Richard L. Sidener at Hillsboro. The couple lived in rural Florence. Richard died in 1994. On Oct. 14, 1995, she married Woodrow Wilson and they lived in Potwin. Woodrow died in August of 2005.

She was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress for the Town and Country Cafe in Florence for nearly 17 years. She was a member of the Singing Grannies in Marion for four years. Dorothy attended the Potwin Methodist Church. She is survived by her two sons, Richard Duane Snelling of El Dorado and Dale Snelling of Marion; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-grand-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and four sisters. Funeral services were Monday, March 13, at the Zeiner Funeral Home Chapel, Florence. Interment followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established with the Children's Miracle Network.
