Wisler, William

Following is the obituary read at the funeral of William, Wisler which was held Saturday afternoon, July 15th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. F. Vernon, in Topeka.

Mr. Wisler and family, for a number of years lived at Cedar Point, coming to this county in the year 1911 from their old home in Virginia.

A son, C. A. Wisler, lived at Cedar Point, until several yearn ago when he moved to Emporia. Members of the Wisler family still own land south of Cedar Point.

William Wisler was born in, Scholkil county, Pennsylvania on April 6th 1850. He was in his eighty-third year at the time of his death.

"Mr. Wisler moved to Virginia in 1889 and lived there until he moved to Cedar Point, Kans, in 1911. He was a farmer and a school teacher. He moved to Topeka about ten years ago to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Vernon. He was a member of the First Christian church.

"In 1878 Mr. Wisler was married in Carroll county, Virginia. During his residence in Topeka he was a member of the Men's Fellowship Bible Class and took much interest. This Is a class taught by a Salvation Army officer and has a large membership. During his life Mr. Wisler belonged to many different churches. While his choice was the Presbyterian, he affiliated himself with whatever religious organizations were available in the communities in which he resided.

Besides Mrs. Vernon, he in survived by two other daughters, Mrs. V. W. Allen, of Vincetown, New Jersey; and Mrs. M. B. Smith of Mount Holly, N. J.; three sons R. L. Wisler, of Florence; W. A. Wisler, of Bristol, Va.; and C. A. Wisler of Emporia; one sister, Mrs. J. H. Jones, of Centralia, Mo.; 28 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren."
