Wood, Daniel G.

The funeral services for Daniel G. Wood, of Saffordville, were held at 2:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Christian Church at Hartford cemetery.

Mr. Wood’s death occurred at 3:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in the Newman Memorial hospital in Emporia, following an illness of about two months.

The Wood family had lived in the Saffordville neighborhood only since February of this year, coming to this county from Hartford.

Following is a brief obituary covering the main events of his life:

Daniel Wood was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel, of Neosho Rapids, Kansas. He was born May 10th, 1910 at Hastings, Nebr. The Wood family moved from Nebraska to Hartford, Kansas in 1911.

Mr. Wood was united in marriage five years ago in this city to Miss Olive May Colglazier. To this union one son, Bobby, was born.

Mrs. Wood and little son survive. Other relatives of Mr. Wood are a sister, Mrs. Ruth McIlvain, of Emporia, and three brothers who are Ray Wood, of Hartford, Kans., Alvin Wood, of Pueblo, Colo., and Jesse Wood, of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Although the Wood family had lived in this county only a brief time yet in that period they had made many friends and these extend to Mrs. Wood and little son their deepest sympathy.

Daniel G. Wood of Saffordville, 23-year-old farmer, died shortly after 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon of last week at the Newman Memorial Hospital in Emporia after an 8-weeks’ illness. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Christian church in Hartford and interment was in the cemetery there.

Daniel Wood, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Wood, of Neosho Rapids, was born May 10, 1910, at Hastings, Neb. The family came to Kansas in 1911, settling at Hartford. Mr. Wood moved to Saffordville in February this year.

He married five years ago at Cottonwood Falls to Olive May Colglazier, who, with a 4-year-old son, Bobby, survives.

Mr. Wood is survived also by a sister, Mrs. Ruth McIlvain, of Emporia, and three brothers, Ray, of Hartford; Alvin, of Pueblo, Colo.; and Jesse of Colorado Springs.
