Wood, Mary E "Dearie"

Death of Dearie Wood.

The most painful event of the past week in our community has been the death of Dearie Wood, daughter of S. N. and M. L. Wood, a little girl who was born in this county, and been raised here.

Dearie had been sick for something over a week with typhoid malaria, but few who knew of her sickness supposed it dangerous and her death, which occurred last Saturday evening, was a painful surprise.

She was a good, kind=-hearted girl and was loved by many friends. Her loss will fall heavily upon her family, having been the pet baby of older brothers and sister, and the companion of her mother.

She was fourteen years and five days old at the time of her death, which occurred last Saturday evening, between nine and ten o'clock. She was buried on Monday.

Funeral services were held at the resideuce of her parents, at Elmdale, at ten o' clock a. m., followd by services at the grave at 1 o'clock, Rev. H J Walker of this city officiating, and Bishop Vail preaching the funeral sermon at the M, E.. church, in this city. A. large number of friends followcd her to her last resting place.
