Wood, Scott

Scott Wood, colored, died at his home in Emporia last Tuesday afternoon, June 7th following a long illness from heart trouble.

Mr. Wood was the father of the late Robert Wood, of Strong City, whose death occurred last year and for many years he made Strong City his home where he was well known and was respected by all.
BR> Scott Wood was born in Woodland, Montgomery County Tenn., Jul 8, 1841. He moved to Kansas when 30 years of age and settled in Strong City. He was married to Eliza Tabney in Woodland, who died in Strong City. They had three children, Robert, John and Inez. Mr. Wood was married to Miss Anna Coleman, April 26 1898 at Strong City. Mr and Mrs Wood moved to Emporia last year. Mr. Wood was a member of the colored Baptist Church at Strong City. Mr. Wood is survived by Mrs. Wood, and one daughter, Mrs. Inez Fairfax of Cleveland, Ohio, and two grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Colored Baptist Church at Strong City. Interment was made in the cemetery at Cottonwood Falls.
