Wright, Frank

Frank Wright, boy about eleven years old, son of Wm. Wright, was burned to death at their home, about six miles north of Cedar Point, on Monday afternoon, about 4 o’clock.

A small granary, located near the barn was being used both for smoking meat and storing seed corn. The front part for the former and the rear end for the latter, with a curtain partition between. The boy was in the rear getting corn when his mother, from the house, discovered the building on fire. She hastened to his rescue and tried to get him through and out of the front and only door, but could not succeed. She then procured an ax and knocking off some boards from the rear end, called but no response came. The flames had gotten the upper hand. The mother being the only adult person near worked heroically for her child, but all in vain. He perished in the flames. The granary and barn, with all contents, were destroyed.

The funeral services were conducted at the house Tuesday morning, by Rev. Mackenzie and the body laid to rest in the Clements cemetery. He was a loving, kind and dutiful child, loved and cherished by parents, playmates and friends. His little life shone forth to brighten the world in which be lived. He knew Jesus as his best friend and often spoke of Him.

Our darling boy is gone.
Gone, but we shall meet him
Beyond the lone and silent tomb,
In the bright eternal city,
Where death and sorrow never come.
