Yenzer,Leona Mae Payton

Leona Mae Yenzer, 83, of Emporia, died July 19, 2003, at Emporia Presbyterian Manor, in Emporia.

Leona, the daughter of Jacob H. and Esther Slabaugh Payton, was born March 2, 1920, at Allen. She married Mack Yenzer on April 6, 1947, in Wichita. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Emporia and a member of Etude Study Club and PE.O. of of Emporia. She worked for the Emporia State Teachers College, Kansas Power & Light and Boeing in Wichita.

Leona is survived by her husband of the home; three daughters, Cynthia Adair of Sapulpa, Okla., Barbara Grace of Wichita and Sylvia Millard of Gimli, Manitoba, Canada; and four grand- children. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, Wilma Payton and sister Wilma Peak. The funeral service will be Friday, July 25, 2003, at 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Emporia. Pastor Jayne Duncan of the church will conduct the service. Private interment will be at a later date in the Hillside Cemetery in Toledo. In lieu of flowers memo- rials to the First United Methodist Church or the Hand In Hand Hospice may be sent in care of Roberts -Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
