Yount, Flossie May Brashear

Flossie May Yount, 95, died May 13, 2003, at the Holiday Resort in Emporia. A celebration of her life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, at the Brown-Bennett- Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. There will be a gathering at the Candlewood Suites in Emporia following the service. A private family graveside service and inurnment will be conduct- ed prior to the service at the Strong City Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.

Flossie May Brashear was born July 21, 1.907, at Asland Bottom Township near Manhattan, Kan., to Harmon and Daisy Bills Brashear. She married Merle Yount on May 27, 1927, at Manhattan. He preceded her in death. She lived in Strong City and Lebo for several years prior to moving to Emporia where she lived at Stanton Heights. She ran a nursery school in Manhattan for a number of years and also worked at a high school in Wichita.

She is survived by four daughters, Norma Horton of Emporia, Dixie Chapman of Hopkinsville, Ky., Hazel Mills of Papillion, Neb., and Judy Vaught of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Francis Yount of Aurora, Colo. and Walter Yount, address unknown; brother, Frank Brashear, Sacramento, Calif.; and sis- ter, Mary Margaret McCollum of Albuquerque, N.M.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin Brashear and Lavern Frahm; and two sis- ters, Florence Hornbuckle and Ethel Rebhan. Memorials are suggest- ed to the Emporia Senior Center, Holiday Resort Nursing Home or Hand in Hand Hospice, all of Emporia.
