Zickefoose, Charles Benjamin
Charles Benjamin Zickefoose, eldest son of William Harvey and America Zickefoose, was born in Henry Co. Iowa, July 15, 1861 and died at his home, at Clements, Feb. 28th, 1921 at the age of 59 years 7 months and 18 days.
At the age of eight years he moved to Polk county, Iowa where Dec. 21, 1882 he was married to Ellen Collins. To this union was born 7 children.
He is survived by his wife and 7 children—four boys and 3 girls William Zickefoose of Emporia Kans. Fred Zickefoose, Mrs. Lee Byram, Mrs. E. M. Osman, Mrs. Q. W. Krueger, Bennie and Edgar Zickefoose, all of Clements. He also has ten Grandchildren, two of them having preceded him to the better land, he also leaves his aged mother 90 years old, 5 sisters and 2 brothers, William and Western Zickefoose, Mrs. C. W. Crespin, Mrs. Art Crispin and Mrs. Will Milner all of Iowa, Mrs. P. B. Almstead of Cartland, Ry. Mrs. Ed Boynton, Chicago Ill.
The deceased became a member of the Methodist church at the age of 24 years. He came to his present home near Clements, Kansas in the spring of 1900.
He was a member of the I. 0. 0. F. Lodge No. 310 and also of the M. W. A. both of Clements, Kansas. He was a devoted husband and kind and affectionate father and a loyal and true friend to the many who knew him.
The funeral services were held in the Clements church March 2nd 2 P. M. The church was filled to over-flowing with the many friends who gather to pay their last respects to the departed.
He was laid to rest in the Prairie Hill cemetery at Cottonwood Falls.
Call not back the dear departed,
Anchored safe where storms are o’er.
On the border land we left them
Soon to meet and part no more.
When we leave this world of changes,
When we leave this world of care,
We shall find our missing loved ones.

CHAS. B. ZICKEFOOSE DEAD
The many friends and neighbors of Mr. Charles B. Zickefoose, of Clements, were grieved to learn of his death which occurred last Monday morning, February 28th.
Mr. Zickefoose had been in failing health for quite a while although his death came suddenly, due to heart trouble, as he was found dead in his bed by his wife early Monday morning.
The funeral services were held at the Clements church at 2:00 o’clock this (Wednesday) afternoon, Rev. Allsbury, of Strong City, preaching the funeral sermon. The remains were then brought to Prairie Grove Cemetery just west of this city where interment was made.
Besides his wife, the deceased leaves a number of children and grand children and many close friends and neighbors. The Zickefoose family had lived in this county since 1900.
