Zimmerman, John

John Zimmerman was born July 7, 1830; departed this life September 21, 1897.

He was married to Caroline Betty in 1860. To this union was born three sons: J. L., C. G. and H. K., and one daughter, Lizzie May Leckliter, all of whom survive father and mother, mother having gone to rest seven years ago, at the age of 48 years. He was married twice, his second wife surviving him.

Father Zimmerman was one of the boys in blue; one that aided in giving birth to the home of the free and land of the brave. He was a member of Co. H., 13th Kan. Infantry.

He entered his eternal home from the State Soldiers Home. Ft. Dodge, Kansas. Services were held at the Strong City Congregational church, Thursday afternoon. Sept 23, Mrs. W. C. Hagans officiating, and the body was buried in Prairie Grove cemetery.
