CLARK, CRAFT, DIKEMAN, JONES, PEISKER / PIESKER, TRICK / TRUEK Friday, 14 April, 2006
Isaac Ernest DIKEMAN, son of William Levi DIKEMAN and Jennie CRAFT, went from Kansas to Union Co., NM and then to Baker County, Oregon. A son of Isaac Ernest DIKEMAN, Dale, now lives in Milwaukie, OR. Isaac Ernest DIKEMAN married Dora Mae JONES, who was raised by Thomas M. and Katherine Barbara JONES in Washington twp, Chautauqua Co. KS. This Dora Mae was born a daughter of Adolph and Mary (FINLEY) PEISKER. in December of 1892. However, it appears that both of her parents were dead by the 1895 KS Census as she was living with Thomas M. and Barbara JONES.

PEISKER (PIESKER)
My PEISKER information begins with Adolph.PEISKER. He married Mary FINLEY in Howard Co. KS in 1873. They had 3 children; George Fredrick, Hannah and Dora Mae. I have found no record of his immigration or his death. His grandson or ggrandson, Morris "Stub" Wilson of Independence, KS, tells me that tradition has it that he fell off his horse while crossing a river and was drowned. He was so ornery and disliked that nobody even looked for his body. I have found no record of death of Adolph or his wife Mary FINLEY PEISKER.

Adolph PEISKER bought property in Doniphan County at NE 1/4 of Twp 35 Range 4 Section 20 on 15 Sep 1868, but he sold half of it one month later and the rest less than a year after that in Aug 1869. He sold the land to Gottlob and Ernst Wolf who are probably part of the chain-migration. Because property owners were required to be at least 21 years of age, Adolph must have been born before 1847. No other records of him have been found.

Note: It is not known if the Johanna below was related to Adolph. But it interesting that she was in Doniphan County and that also Adolph bought land there 1868 then sold it 1869 and was found 1870 in Cherokee Co.

Mary FINLEY was born in IN about 1845 but I have not been able to identify her parents.

PIESKER, Fred (Fred always spelled his name PIESKER) Name and date of newspaper not given. Died at Halstead, KS May 16, 1945 at age of 68 yrs, 3 mos and 1 day. On Dec 31, 1901, he was married at Sedan, KS to Dora Mae Trick. Surviving are four daughters: Mrs. Barbara Ferguson of Independence; Mrs. Virgie Russell of Longton; Mrs Mary Dixon of Elk City; Mrs Treva Wilson of Ial Valley; three sons; John of Elk City, Clifford of U.S. Army and James of the U.S. Navy. Also three children died in infancy and Mrs. Rosa Phillips preceded him in death in 1937. Mrs. Piesker died Nov 16, 1944. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs Hannah Clark of Havana and Mrs. Dora Dikeman of Halfway, Oregon. [Note: This is the most positive proof available that the Dora DIKEMAN, the mother of Dale, was born as a PEISKER even though married as a JONES.]

Anne Maria TRICK and two children, Katherina and Jakob, emigrated from Wuerttemberg, Germany in 1854. They arrived in New York on the Wm. Tell [From Ancestry.Com Wuerttemberg, Germany Emigration Index]

TRUEK, Anna Maria (wid) & F b. 11 Sep 1810 Dornstetten. Applied Apr 1854 to North America # 569273
TRUEK, Katharina Barbara b. 14 Jul 1838 Dornstetten. Applied Apr 1854 to North America # 569273
TRUEK, Jakob b. 18 Oct 1839 Dornstetten. Applied Apr 1854 to North America # 569273.
This establishes that Mary was Jacob’s mother and that Katharina Barbara was his older sister.
Also listed on the same application # 569273 but relationship not yet established were:
Truek, Christian 29 Jan 1832 in Dornstetten, and Truek, Christiane Katharine 23 Nov 1834 in Dornstetten Ancestry.com New York Immigration:
TRUEK, Marie, 43, F, Jacob, 16, F (sic) and Barb, 18, M (sic) arrived 27 June 1854 at NY on Ship Wm. Tell from Le Havre, France.
Note: TRUEK must sound like "Trick" in English so they changed their names to TRICK by the time of the 1860 census.

On 1860 census, Jacob and his mother Mary are found in Boone Co. KY. Katherina Barbara was married to John ROBENSTEIN and living in Dearborn Co. IN just across the Ohio River from Boone Co. KY. On 1870 census, Jacob, his wife Maria J. and his mother Mary are in Miami Co. KS. John and Katherina Barbara were living next door. On 1880 census, Jacob, his wife Maria and ch were back in IN. Cannot locate John or Barbara ROBENSTEIN.

On 1895 KS state census, Jacob, his wife Maria J were living in Washington Twp, Chautauqua Co. KS. On 1900 US census, Jacob is still there but Maria not. Evidently died. On 1910 US census, Jacob not there. Evidently died.

I found nothing in Chautauqua records to indicate that Jacob TRICK and Katherina Barbara JONES were brother and sister. But the Wuerttemberg emigration info and the fact that they were living adjacent in 1860, 1870, 1895 and 1900 is solid evidence.

The following are Postcards in possession of Dale DIKEMAN;

To Mrs. Ruth Craft, Independence, KS % John M. Mathew dated May 16, 1910 from Dora Jones, Havana, KS.
To Mrs. Ruth Craft, Independence KS To Grandma from Earnest 5/17 1910.
To Mrs. Jennie DIKEMAN, Sedan, New Mexico Oct 12 1911. From Dora and Earnest announcing their marriage and staying with Mrs. Mathews.

The following marriages have been recorded:

PEISKER, Ardelph, 28 , to FINLEY, Mary, 18, Howard Co. Married 18 Sep 1873 Howard Co. A 155. Note: Howard County is parent county to Chautauqua County.
CLARK, Chester R., 23, Chautauqua Co. To PEISKER, Hannah, 23, Chautauqua Co. Md. 10 Jun 1900 Chautauqua Co. G 138.
DIKEMAN, Isaac Earnest, 22 and JONES [Piesker], Dora Mae, 18, Md. Independence, Montgomery Co. 12 Oct 1911.
PIESKER, Fred and Dora Mae PICK [Should be TRICK?]

Any information you might have concerning the above families would be greatly appreciated.
