Obituary of ESTHER VEATCH

DEATH of MRS. B. M. VEATCH

Mrs. Esther died at her home in this city, April 10, 1893, at 11 o'clock a.m., from derangement of the stomach, after an illness of six weeks, though her trouble was not considered dangerous until a week before her
death. Her children, who resided at a considerable distance, were telegraphed for, but could not reach here in time to see her alive.

Mrs. Veatch was 65 years of age. She was the second wife of Capt. B. M. Veatch and the mother of two children, Fred Veatch, of Moscow, Idaho and Mrs. Kate Humphreys of Trinidad, Colorado, and all are well and favorably known. The deceased was born near Rochester, New York. In early life she removed to Vermont, Illinois - then Esther Martin - where she met and married B. M. Veatch, March 10, 1860. They removed to Tennessee, Illinois shortly afterwards, and resided there from 1861 to 1865. From this place they removed to Keytesville, Missouri, where the family resided for twenty years. In 1880, the family moved to Kingman, Kansas and from Kingman to Comanche county in 1886, where Mr. and Mrs. Veatch have since resided.

Mrs. Esther Veatch was a member of the Presbyterian church and highly respected and beloved by a large circle of friends. The funeral services were conducted from the family residence Wednesday morning, Rev. Fulton officiating. The remains were laid away in the city cemetery to await the final awakening on judgment day.
