Obituary of JOHN MOORE
OBITUARY

John Moore died at his home near Protection, October 26, 1894. The deceased was born in Ohio, June 2, 1840.

In 1861, he enlisted in the army as a volunteer in Co. A. Reg. 53rd. Ohio and served three years. He was united in marriage to Belle Miller in 1866. Ten years later with his family he removed to eastern Kansas where they lived until 1885 when they came to Comanche county. Here he preempted a claim a half mile south of Protection, which has since been the home of the family. Being one of the earliest settlers, Mr. Moore was one of our best known and most respected citizens. During his
illness, he suffered greatly, but he bore it all patiently and was never heard to complain. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn the loss of a kind husband and affectionate father. The funeral services conducted by Rev. Dester and the remains were laid to rest in Riverside cemetery. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.

Friend after Friend departs.
Who hath not lost a friend
There is no union here of hearts,
But knoweth here an end
