| Obituary of MARY SEXTON |
| OBITUARY. The "Gazette-Express" published at Leland, Illinois, contained the following in relation to the death of Mrs. Mary Sexton, sister of Mrs. Chas. McIntyre, of this city: Mrs. Mary Sexton died at her home, Thursday evening., September 2d, of heart failure, aged 62 years, 8 months and 18 days. She was born in County Clare, Ireland, December 16, 1835, removing to this country at the age of 15. October 18, 1857, she was married in Leland, to John Sexton, who survives her. Five children were born to them, four of whom - John E., Mrs. Maggie Barnes, Will T., and Frank G. - are living. The eldest son died in infancy. The funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Father Erhard, of Somonauk, were held on Saturday morning in the Catholic church of this place, high mass being celebrated. The large concourse of sorrowing and sympathizing relatives and friends, as well as the numerous and beautiful floral tributes, testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held by all who knew her. Her fatal illness which extended over a period of several months, was marked by patience and fortitude, and while she would have been glad to remain with her loved ones, she expressed her perfect willingness and resignation to go if God so willed. A loving and devoted wife and mother, a kind friend and neighbor, and a constant member of the Catholic church with which she has always been identified, her death causes universal regret, and leaves in her home a 'void which nothing can fill. |
