MRS. RUTH MORTON

MRS. RUTH MORTON, widow of D. W. Morton, died at the family home in Bassettville township, Tuesday January 21 (1941).  She also had been in poor health for some time, and her death was not unexpected.  Born at Fort Wayne , Ind. January 16, 1863 , she had just passed her 78th birthday five days before her death.  Her parents, Abbott and Julia Green, moved to Mercer (Meigs)  County, Ohio , her childhood home; and here she was united in marriage with Daniel W. Morton, March 30, 1882 . The marriage was blessed with eleven children; nine of whom survive their mother. The father died March 21, 1936 .  For nearly sixty years the Mortons have made their home in Decatur County ; and their home was ever a social center of their neighborhood; Mr. and Mrs. Morton and the children were leaders in social activities.  The surviving children are: Victor, Lester and Abbott Morton and Mrs. Alice Stiner of the home community; Mrs. Cora Small  (Schmahl), Rexford Kansas ; Emmett Morton, Goodland , Kansas ; Mrs. Edna Claar, Warrenton , Oregon ; Mrs. Ann McBurney, Great Falls, Montana.
