WALLACE
Dennis Wallace 7 FEB 1999
John Wallace & Elizabeth Berry - It is my belief that in 1855 my
gggrndfather, John Wallace, departed Coles County for Kansas and
specifically Davis County (now Geary County), Kansas, which is in the Fort
Riley Army post area (near Junction City, Kansas). He was at the time
married to Elizabeth Berry and when they left Coles County they already had
3 of their many children. The youngest of them was Joseph H., born in
Illinois on January 22, 1855. The other 2 were Mary J., born in
Pennsylvania in 1849 and Hugh S., born in Pennsylvania on May 16, 1852.
Both of these children were born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, as were
John on September 23, 1821, and Elizabeth on July 13, 1828. Obviously they
arrived in Illinois sometime between 1852 and 1855. Any information about
the Berry family or the Wallace family would surely be appreciated. I have
much more about the Wallace side once it arrived in Kansas but have
virtually nothing about the Berry side. Will share anything I have and
would greatly accept any and all help in my search.
